Background description
Process description
In the production of foamed PPE, PE, PS, and PET, the molten plastic in the extruder is injected into the foaming medium (such as pentane, CO2) at up to 350 bar. When plastic is extruded from a hollow nozzle, its volume expands 20 to 50 times.
An important process is the production of foamed films and foamed boards. The continuous extrusion process realizes the cascade reducer through the multi-stage extruder.
When the plastic particles are melted in the first-stage extruder, they are mixed evenly in the second-stage extruder and then the foaming medium is accurately added. The molten medium can be controlled at a specified temperature.
Because the foaming medium is saturated with the difference between vapor pressure and atmospheric pressure, the molten plastic can expand. Flow through the calibration device and extrude the desired molding thickness.
