Background note
Caprolactam is an important raw material for ring-opening polymerization of polyamide 6 (polyamide fiber).
The second way of polymerization is by the hydrolytic cleavage of the amide bond and the subsequent polycondensation reaction. The annual output of polyamide 6 can reach 10,000 tons.
Under normal temperature conditions, caprolactam is a white crystal, soluble in water. Therefore, caprolactam is usually stored at a temperature above 80°C before use.
